Summary
The MIL Corporation seeks a Technical Writer to support a Federal Government client at our Charleston, SC location. The Technical Writer will assist in documenting financial software solutions.

Responsibilities
• Research, write, update, and maintain detailed documentation including functional and technical designs and user guides that explain the functionality of independently developed Microsoft Access driven tools
• Act as a key contributor to the documentation methodology and framework used throughout the team's Software Development Life Cycle
• Manage configurations of documentation in a digital configuration management versioning system and contribute to overall project documentation in accordance with team and client processes
• Assist with other projects on an as-needed basis

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's in English, Communications or related field -OR- Bachelor's in Financial Management, Business Administration or a combination of courses and related experience
• 2 years of experience developing functional and technical designs and documentation
• Ability to use creativity and experience to design and write for technical and non-technical audiences
• Very good English grammar skills and superior writing skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and translate technical information into plain language for a diverse audience
• Ability to multi-task, work independently and in teams, be self-motivated and manage multiple deadlines and deliver accurate, clear, and concise content that is technically accurate and meets the end user needs
• Ability to work with developers, subject matter experts and users to elicit information used for documentation
• Ability to create screen shots and diagrams as necessary to illustrate technical concepts
• Very good organizational skills with the ability to manage expectations and address customer demands
• Very good interpersonal, verbal communication, presentation skills and technical communication skills
• Possess a high degree of integrity, initiative and motivation
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office including MS Access
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint
• Ability to learn new technologies and concepts quickly and then compose clear and accurate training materials and documentation

Desired Qualifications
• MA/MBA/MS
• Knowledge of Federal accounting/financial management policies, practices, operations, and procedures
• Knowledge of Microsoft Visio
• Prior experience supporting Agile and standard Software Development Life cycles
• Prior experience documenting applications that utilize relational database systems
• Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL)
• Ability to read Visual Basic Code comment
• Familiarity with ISO-9001 and Quality Management Systems (QMS)
