    Education Requirements:

    A. Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.

    OR

    B. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

    Candidates must provide sufficient information at the time of application to determine that the following basic requirements, as well as additional requirements, are met. A copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned is recommended. If selected, you will need to verify that you meet these requirements before appointment. Candidates must meet all eligibility requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

    1. Examples of qualifying experience include: (a) individual economic research assignments requiring planning, information assembly, analysis and evaluation, conclusions and report preparation for business executives to make strategic business decisions; (b) supervisory or project coordination assignments involving a staff of professional economists, and requiring the evaluation and interpretation of economic information; or (c) service as a consultant or advisor on technical economics problems. Experience in related fields that did not involve the use and understanding of economic principles and theories may not be used as quantifying experience for this position. Special attention on this point should be given to certain types of work that may or may not have provided professional economic experience. The following examples of work require special care in such determinations: (a) economic statistics; (b) industrial surveys; (c) management of individual business enterprises, including farms; (d) industrial planning; (e) writing or editorial work in economic subjects; and (f) financial market analysis.

    Specialized experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service.Specialized experience for this position includes:

    - Experience in portfolio management, modeling, and analytics, along with knowledge of financial mathematics (Term Structure and Term Premia models); and pricing and valuation models for structured products such as Collateralized Loan Obligations (CLOs) and experience in creating and using fixed income option valuation models; AND

    - Experience demonstrating proficient use of Excel, VBA, MATLAB, SQL, C++, or similar systems.

    The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

    - We may select from this announcement or any other source to fill one or more vacancies.
    - Relocation expenses will not be paid.
    - This is a non-bargaining unit position.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    - A one year probationary period may be required.
    - Must successfully complete a background investigation.
    - Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
    - If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
    - Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
    - Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
    - Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
    - File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.
    - Undergo an income tax verification.
