Registered Nurse

Key Role:

Provide technical support for Vision Center of Excellence (VCE) tasks aligned to education, training, simulation, and readiness to promote the prevention of eye injuries and enhance readiness and ocular trauma preparedness across the DoD, VA, and civilian communities. Lend clinical expertise to the care coordinator toward enhancing the quality of life across the visual continuum of care. Participate in weekly multidisciplinary meetings to identify any service member or veteran sustaining an eye injury who will benefit from the coordination of vision care or resources. Develop educational presentations, Webinars, and video scripts for military and civilian medical audiences. Engage in collaborative scholarly research efforts to provide VCE with the most current information to assure optimization of clinical care outcomes for service members and veterans with ocular injury and disease.

Basic Qualifications:

-8+ years of experience in a professional work environment

-Experience in high-intensity nursing, including trauma, emergency, operative, or critical care nursing

-Experience with Process Improvement (PI) methodologies and completing PI projects

-Knowledge of DoD, VA, and community-based resources, patient eligibility, or entitlement to these resources, and how to access these resources

-Ability to function as a member of a broadly defined multidisciplinary team of professionals, including ophthalmologists, optometrists, blind rehabilitation specialists, and other nurses

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-MA or MS degree

-Active RN License

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience in working with military health organizations

-Experience with technical writing, including white papers

-Knowledge of ocular diseases, conditions, and treatments preferred

-Ability to self-manage schedules and deadlines, juggle multiple complex projects, and oversee quality control of deliverables in a high-paced environment
