Applicants must hold one or more of the following certifications:

  1. Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) in Routing/Switching, Security, Voice and/or Wireless;
  2. Microsoft MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure;
  3. VMware Desktop and Mobility Professional Level (VCP 6/7 - DTM); OR
  4. VMware Data Center Virtualization Professional Level (VCP 6/6.5 - DCV).
The candidate must provide documentation of at least one year of mastery level (work with little to no supervisory input or controls) experience with at least two of the following: (1) VMware; (2) Cisco AMP/Umbrella/Stealthwatch; (3) Cisco Catalyst or Nexus switches; (4) Cisco UCS, Prime Infrastructure, Operations Manager; (5) Commvault; and (6) Nutanix.

Special Rating Factors (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required by the position): Applicants are required to address each Special Rating Factor providing detailed evidence of the listed factors in the form of clear, concise examples of accomplishment and degree of responsibility. Please use specific examples to illustrate how your qualifications and accomplishments are relevant.
  1. Mastery of network design and skill in applying these principles and concepts to developing, configuring and maintaining the Court's LAN, WAN, VLAN, etc. Extensive knowledge of network optimization techniques and analytical reasoning sufficient to serve as network administrator, including responsibility for: configuring hubs, switches, and routers; and monitoring network actions in order to prevent incomprehensible work disruptions.
  2. Thorough understanding of network diagnostic tools such that incumbent can continually test and monitor the health and performance of the network and provide preemptive maintenance and problem solving if and when the need arises.
  3. Knowledge of the requirements for the acquisition of network hardware, software, and services and a general understanding of federal procurement practices and procedures.
  4. Skill in technical research as it relates to networking, computer systems, software systems, and peripherals.

Candidates must have at least 52 weeks of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, as well as meet the screen out factor.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to performing systems network functions within a U.S. Court.

Employees of the U.S. Tax Court serve under excepted appointments and are considered "AT WILL" employees. At will employees can be dismissed for any reason, without cause and without warning.

Employees will be required to complete a 52-week probationary period.
