Clinical Research Coordinator, Department of Neurology - Georgetown University Medical Center

Georgetown University's Department of Neurology hosts a multi-disciplinary research program in the neurosciences.  The Department actively participates in translational research, ensuring that advancements in the lab are brought directly to the bedside to benefit our patients. Members of the Department's faculty have a wide range of research interests spanning the scope of nervous system abnormalities. Particular areas of strength include cognitive and behavioral neurology, research on language and communication, stroke, epilepsy, dementia, neurorehabilitation, neuroimaging, and drug discovery.

The Clinical Research Coordinator - in an entry level opportunity for candidate who intends to apply to medical school or other clinically oriented graduate program - assists in the the coordination of ongoing clinical trials in the Department of Neurology's 37 ongoing clinical trials. S/he manages 2 clinical trials and assists with the coordination of the department's largest study, MS-ADVANCE, which currently has more than 515 patients enrolled and will continue to enroll more patients through September. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Trials, the Clinical Research Coordinator has duties that include but are not limited to:


  • Assists data management.
  • Coordinates tracking of labs, MRIs, and other clinical outcomes.
  • Coordinates visit scheduling with providers and patients.


  • Coordinates patient visits.
  • Pre-screen/screens patients.
  • Completes all study-related paperwork before, during, after visits.
  • Works with Georgetown CRU to complete visit assessments.
  • Coordinates with Principal Investigator (PI), Sub-Investigators, and nurses to identify and enroll patients.

AMGEN Migraine Study

  • Sends patient enrollment email invitations to study patients.
  • Answers questions from patients on study, and relays info to PI and manager.
  • Provides weekly updates to sponsor.


  • Bachelor's degree (no clinical trial experience required) or Associate's degree with 2 years of experience working on clinical trials at another hospital or research center
  • Detail orientation
  • Ability to quickly learn and comfortability working in a hospital setting
