This position may be designated as essential personnel. To qualify for the Supervisory IT Specialist (INFOSEC) position you must have IT related experience that demonstrates possession of each of the four required competencies related to: 1) Attention to Detail - Evaluate procedures and methods for determining risks, vulnerability; 2) Customer Service - Serve as a technical advisor on program effectiveness, efficiency, policy, and direction; 3) Oral Communication - Maintain contact with industry stakeholders; 4) Problem Solving - Make recommendations to resolve shortfalls in system security features and practices.

In addition to meeting the above competencies applicant's must possess at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service(obtained in either the private or public sector). This experience must include activities such as: 1) leading cyber security-focused all-source analysis efforts focused on network, system, and application vulnerabilities and researching and providing mitigation to resolve the vulnerabilities; 2) planning and/or managing research and analysis efforts to inform decision makers on threats to infrastructure, enterprise-level capabilities, and risk of vulnerability exploitation; 3) identifying information technology security program implications of new technologies or technology upgrades; and 4) overseeing the development, documentation, and management of analytical requirements, threat-based capabilities research and analysis, and presenting recommendations to senior leaders for enterprise-level system changes, procedures, and processes.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide
valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
