Sentara Norfolk General is hiring a Registered Nurse Team Coordinator for its Oncology Unit.

Hours/Shift: 7am -7pm, Day Shift

Department/Position Overview: This unit cares for patients with cancer in an inpatient, 18 bed Medical Surgical Unit that is expanding to a 36 bed Intermediate Care Unit. Oncology is one of the most challenging and rewarding fields in nursing; no two days on the job are ever the same. We are hiring compassionate RNs to monitor physical conditions, prescribe medication, and administer chemotherapy and other treatments. Experienced RNs with back and neck surgery preferred.

Position shares the 24/7 responsibility to assist the manager for the daily operations of Oncology Department. This Medical Surgical Oncology Inpatient unit is expanding from an 18 bed unit to a 36 bed unit of a Level 1 Trauma Center.

Supervises patient care services staff to ensure patient safety, provides high quality outcomes and an exceptional patient/family experience; assists manager in the development and monitoring of the departmental budget; coordinates the purchasing and payroll processes; serves as a technical/clinical resource to team members; and performs work assignments as needed to provide appropriate coverage and to mentor/assist staff. Assists manager with interviewing, hiring, developing, and retaining staff members with the goal of developing a highly reliable work team. May coordinate and/or assist with staff education, orientation and precepting of members of the team. Utilizes effective communication/ interpersonal skills and is able to adapt leadership style to support achieving department goals and objectives.
