Special Education Teacher- Physical Education
ADVENTIST HEALTHCARE is seeking an experienced Special Education PE Teacher to join our team at THE LOURIE CENTER SCHOOL for Infants and Young Children. The Lourie Center School is a private non-public school for children with emotional and multiple disabilities and approved by the Maryland State Department of Education.
The school serves children age four through grade five.
Under the general supervision of the director of the Lourie Center School, the teacher is responsible for the development, implementation of an Physical Education program that supports the psycho-educational program for children in the Lourie Center School and serves as a resource for other teacher.
Shift: Part time day shift (24 hours/week) which includes benefits.
Develops and Implements an Individualized physical education curriculum and schedule for the classroom.
Implements standards from the Maryland state curriculum in the subject of physical education.
Develops with team member and parents, an individualized education plan (IEP) for each full-time student.
Aware of and monitors progress of each childs IEP objectives in conjunction with physical education standards.
In order to qualify for this position at the Lourie Center School you must have the following:
Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in early childhood/ elementary special education is required.
Bachelors degree and ability to be certified by MDSE to hold a provisional or Standard I/ Standard II or APC teaching certificate with endorsement in physical education or eligible.
