Senior Government Relations Specialist
A well-established law firm is seeking a Senior Government Relations Specialist to provide support within the Government Relations practice group. Candidate will monitor legislative developments in areas of interest to our clients within Committees, on the House floor and in the Senate. Interest areas include but are not limited to: energy, health care, tax, trade, and transportation issues. Responsibilities will include; conduct legislative research and prepare legislative histories and related documents and reports, track legislation and other developments in specific issue areas and prepare written analysis for members of the practice group and clients, attend hearings and provide live blogging on issues being discussed, act as a liaison with congressional office staff to produce favorable outcomes for our clients, support and facilitate client meetings on the Hill with Members of Congress, and prepare lobbying disclosure reports.
A bachelor's degree in political science or related field and strong academic credentials are required. Candidate should have a minimum of two years of legislative or relevant experience and should have thorough knowledge of the legislative process and of congressional organization and procedures. Experience working with congressional staff, strong written and verbal communication skill and the ability to write client ready copy with minimal input. Candidate should have proficiency with MS Office Suite. Some OT may be required.
