As part of the Human Resources team, the deputy director will be a true generalist, with a focus on recruitment, diversity and inclusion, performance management, employee relations, training, employee events, health and wellness initiatives, and benefits administration. The Deputy Director will supervise the Human Resources staff in the Washington, DC office. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in working on human resources competencies, in a fast paced, collegial and intellectually engaging nonprofit work environment. The Deputy Director will work closely with the Vice President and Director of Human Resources. The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to): Manage the Washington, DC office human resources team, including a generalist, reception service, and interdepartmental assistant; and be the senior Human Resources contact for the Washington, DC employee base. Oversee the Washington office's full cycle recruitment process for a wide range of positions, including working directly with hiring managers, identifying recruitment sources, interviewing candidates, conducting reference checks, and making offers. Work closely with the Vice President and Director, managing CFR's diversity and inclusion efforts, including developing talent pipelines, coordinating CFR's employee resource groups, and representing CFR at external diversity events, such as job fairs. Coordinate the performance management process; including conducting coaching sessions with employees with a goal of professional development and performance improvement. Develop, implement, and execute a wide array of training and staff events, including helping to manage an online learning management system. Staff events include a comprehensive health and wellness program, training sessions at every level from interns through senior management, and a brown bag lunch series. Working closely with the Director of Benefits and Compensation, manage benefits and compensation processes, including open enrollment and compensation review. Qualifications Minimum of 6 or more years related human resources generalist experience in a high profile organization, including significant recruitment and supervisory experience. Degree in a related field with high academic achievement; PHR or SPHR certification a plus. Strong employee relations skills and experience, including coaching and consultative skills. Experience with benefits administration and compensation. Strong project management experience, including the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience with managing diversity and inclusion initiatives. Outstanding writing skills as well as public speaking skills. Ability to work well independently, in addition to being a proactive and collaborative member of a team. Results-oriented with a flexible and positive attitude, and the highest level of judgment and discretion. Proficiency with HRMS/HRIS databases, ADP, learning management systems, applicant tracking software, advanced Excel, and MS Office products. Interest in international relations preferred. Ability to travel periodically.
