Radiology Technologist/RT This position is accountable to prepare patients and perform routine radiographic procedures in accordance with physicians' orders and the procedure manual. The RT produces high quality images and prepares/presents the whit appropriate comparison studies and other exam results or pertinent patient information to the Radiologist/ Vascular Surgeon for timely interpretation. Additionally, the RT supports the values, and clinical initiatives of the facility, and demonstrates a commitment of quality service to our patients and their families, the community, the physicians and our associates. Major Duties and Responsibilities Prepares patients for radiology examinations by confirming physician's orders, verifying patients' identities, and obtaining adequate medical ensure the appropriateness of examinations and facilitate timely accurate diagnosis of the patient. Performs and documents daily start up, and routine maintenance of all imaging equipment. Implements universal Precaution when dealing with potentially biohazardous situations and disposes of biohazardous material appropriately. Decontaminates imaging equipment when indicated Performs radiology examinations/ procedures on all patients Maintains clinical competency as evidenced by an initial and the annual performance appraisals. Supports and assists Interventional Radiologist, Physician Assistants, Nurse practitioner and other clinical staff as needed. Archives, retrieves, and manages images produces during procedures. Adheres to departmental operations and quality patient care. Demonstrates a high degree of knowledge and understanding of Diagnostic Imaging services/ activities. Greets all patients, visitors, family members, physicians and associates in a friendly courteous and professional manner. Addresses customers' needs efficiently, effectively, and confidentially. Answers telephones courteously, professionally. Screens and transfers telephone calls or takes messages as appropriate to facilitate effective communications Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors by requiring and supporting the establishment, maintenance, and education of an effective safety management program. Adheres to radiation safety practices for patients, personnel, and self including principals of time, distance, and shielding where possible. Responsible for maintaining radiation badge program Responsible for performing annual lead apron checks Maintain equipment to meet Virginia Department of Health requirements and participate in/coordinate maintenance and physical inspections. Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and materials by reporting inventory depletion and restocking to ensure their continued availability and non-interruption of services. Order supplies as needed. Reports, records and files patient and procedural data in order to accurately document department operations and facilitate timely accurate billing for services. Maintains authority to administer contrast agents and follows established guidelines for the selection/administration of appropriate contrast type, amount, and concentration. Participates in performance improvement activities for Diagnostic Radiology Remains proficient in the use of information services as needed Utilizes information and communication technologies efficiently and in accordance with all HIPPA standards. Qualifications ARRT registered or registry-eligible in Radiologic Technology. (if registry-eligible at time of hire, must pass Registry examination within one year of hire date.) Completion of Accredited two-year program in Radiologic Technology or equivalent Virginia Radiologic Technologist License Two Years of relevant experience preferred Excellent customer service and communication skills Strong working knowledge of computer systems Physical Demands Prolonged periods of standing, including while wearing lead aprons and radiation protection apparel. Requires moderate lifting of weight up to 35 pounds. Exposure to needle sticks and blood borne or air borne pathogens. Schedule This is a part time position (18 hours/ week) made up of every Saturday for 5 hours and two 6.5 hour days to be scheduled based on volume/ needs.
