The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation's most effective animal protection organization, is seeking a Senior Director, Faith Outreach for our Outreach and Engagement department. The primary purpose of this position is to direct and manage the Faith Outreach program; this includes but is not limited to strategic planning, public speaking, writing, event coordination, overseeing staff and fundraising. This position will be responsible for: * Providing leadership and direction to State Affairs and other HSUS staff in the ongoing cultivation and engagement of faith contacts in outreach strategies that support and advance broader HSUS initiatives and priority legislative efforts; * Ensuring that the development and execution of the Faith Outreach program includes coordination and communication of plans between programs, departments and audiences; * Overseeing Faith Outreach manager in the recruitment and cultivation of volunteers in all 50 states; * Representing Outreach & Engagement as program director and participating in overall efforts to increase the volunteer base of the organization; * Overseeing and managing the Faith Outreach team and program; responsible for training, career development, and ensuring the team's success in supporting HSUS federal and state policy and program priorities; * Collaborating with and increasing the number of faith leaders who support the organization and mission; cultivating their affinity for the organization and encouraging greater frequency and quality of activity; * Serving as a representative of the Faith Outreach program at churches, conferences, events, meetings and more; * Hosting conference calls and maintaining regular communication to ensure engagement of faith leaders; * Managing the Faith Advisory Council; * Staying abreast of faith outreach issues and nonprofit organizations best practices and latest trends; * Other duties as assigned.* Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience required; * Minimum seven years of relevant functional work experience required; * Minimum four years of management experience required; * Experience in grant writing and other fundraising preferred; * Experience in event planning (workshops and conferences) and educational program delivery preferred; * Demonstrated ability in program development, management and promotion; * Skilled in designing and implementing volunteer programs and building community support. * Strong knowledge of and commitment to animal protection, sustainable food systems, and sustainable development issues; * Excellent communication skills, especially in writing, public speaking, and interpersonal and cross-cultural communication; * Strong organizational, coordination, supervisory and time management skills; * Flexibility and the ability to manage multiple and often changing priorities and issues; * Self-motivation is essential with the ability to continually seek new opportunities to cultivate partnerships and build relationships; * High level of competence in use of computers, including the internet, Microsoft Office, word processing, databases, web design and electronic communication; * Conduct required/effective management responsibilities, ensuring that all activities, including staff management, are performed in compliance with The HSUS values, its budget/fiscal responsibility expectations, and other established organizational policies, standards, and procedures; * Basic knowledge and understanding of the legislative process and public policy; * Must be able/willing to travel.
