The Managing Director will be primarily responsible for driving the impact of the local office on the delivery of our North American regional strategic and financial plan. The successful candidate will bring a strong commercial orientation, deep network and proven business development track record to the firm. He/she will be a driving force behind the agency's progress toward fully integrated client teams to accelerate our ambition of becoming the 'most passionately recommended PR agency in the world'. The Managing Director will be charged with reinforcing and modeling this culture in the local office, and ensuring that colleagues work collaboratively with the rest of the firm's offices across the world in the best interest of their clients and teams. This position reports to the President, North America. Our next Washington, DC Managing Director will be: * Well-connected with an extensive network of strong relationships that can be quickly leveraged among senior executives in the Washington, DC market * Established reputationally in the Washington, DC market with strong experience in public affairs and issues management, reputation management and crisis communications, and/or social impact or purpose-driven work. Knowledge working with the federal government would be an asset but not a requirement. * An aggressive new business hunter who will spend significant time in outside prospecting meetings and market visibility opportunities * A strong talent manager, able to inspire and motivate local team members to collaborate fiercely together and to build "best teams" from across the broader network, has a proven track record for embracing D&I programs, and has a progressive view of talent and succession planning * An advocate for, and practitioner of, client service excellence * Able to demonstrate a proven track record for creating, hitting and exceeding financial targets The Washington, DC Managing Director will provide leadership across these key areas: VISION/STRATEGY: * Development of the vision for the local office that helps pull PN's three year strategic plan through the local market * Inspiration and coaching of local teams on successful implementation of the strategy with a focus on integration, performance and results TALENT: * Supporting all aspects of talent management: recruiting, assessing candidates, career planning and professional development, real-time coaching, dealing with conflict and reward/recognition * Ensuring local team members truly live our values and are actively and fully engaged * Actively working within the PN Community model to build "best teams" to support clients regardless of geography * Contribution to the professional development of staff by ensuring a robust professional training program and nurturing core skill development CLIENT SERVICE EXCELLENCE: * Actively engage with our Lift Relations platform and use feedback proactively to strengthen our relationship and service to clients * Ensuring the PN Community model is activated to drive meaningful and measurable impact on our client's communications and business imperatives * Providing senior counsel across all relevant client teams NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT: * Working with regional president, head of global new business, regional Managing Directors and other agency leaders to support incoming new business opportunities as well as to identify and support proactive new business outreach and initiatives * Working to drive incremental growth within existing clients by finding opportunities to offer additional and relevant products and services beyond current scope * Create a positive 'new business hunting' culture at all levels in the office VISIBILITY: * Establishing positive agency positioning in the local marketplace for both prospects and talent * Building and leverage relationships within the local Omnicom network * Developing agency thought leadership that reflects the core strengths of the local team and individuals in the office FINANCE: * Meeting monthly and annual financial performance metrics for the office and the region * Effectively manage local operational costs* Demonstrable experience of driving effective collaboration across multi-disciplined teams to bring significant business benefit to client organizations * Strong commercial track record and new business drive/orientation * Unparalleled leadership, relationship-building, and networking skills at all levels both internally and externally * The ability to balance market facing responsibilities, including business development, with key internal leadership priorities, * A generous spirit who shares knowledge, cultivates growth in others, and liberates the potential greatness in all colleagues * An entrepreneurial mindset and "what if" attitude that helps team members see beyond the challenges and realize the possibilities * A commitment to helping colleagues stand for our values and standards in the marketplace, * The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree. An advanced degree in Journalism, Communications, Business, Marketing, or Government/Political Science/International Affairs is an advantage but not required.
