It's a vision enthusiastically supported by our board and leadership, and our work has begun.We are looking for an energetic, innovative finance leader to serve as our Chief Financial Officer (CFO) - someone who can help us lead this strategic effort and refine the roadmap for our future, working with us to transform ACOG into an innovative service provider, engaging our members and delivering an experience that keeps them enthusiastic about their profession and the women we serve as patients. Top priorities for our CFO are to: * Help us better understand the investments we're making and returns they are generating * Develop new business opportunities, diversifying and growing our revenue streams * Advance business analytics into our processes and decision making * Implement a robust business planning and forecasting process that aligns operational plans and surfaces opportunities and risks * Act as watchdog for efficiency * Develop and implement ways to score our performance * Evolve our financial model to constantly ensure sustainability ACOG Structure & Reporting ACOG is a national, district and state level organization, with international affiliates, and the Finance function supports the breadth of these activities. The Finance team is a team of 14 dedicated staff, and this full-time executive position reports to and is supported by the Chief Operating Officer. Our CFO is a key member of our Executive Leadership Team, and partners extensively with the CEO, our Executive Board, staff leadership, member leadership and other departmental teams, and is based in ACOG's Washington DC headquarters., Driving Strategy * Portfolio management - assessing and optimizing our investments in products, services, and activities, providing a clear picture of cost, impact and returns * Business development - identifying and developing commercial opportunities with existing and new partners * Financial modeling - developing business cases and pro forma models to new investment decisions and drive long-range strategic planning * Business performance management - bringing clarity to how we measure strategic success, and visibility to whether we are achieving it * Risk management - understanding key factors that present significant risk and developing reasonable, adequate mitigation Managing Performance & Delivering Efficiency * Accounting & Financial Reporting - providing timely, accurate and insightful routine reporting * FP&A - building disciplined, integrated financial and operational plans and related processes to assess and forecast performance; supporting key business decisions with robust ad hoc analytics * Internal Controls & Compliance - establishing adequate policies and processes to ensure we are protecting our assets * Investment management - working with external investment advisors to deliver adequate returns balancing risk and volatility * Cash management - developing and managing cash requirements, and sourcing as needed * Procurement - ensuring outlays reflect best value and are transparent * Grant & contract financial management - maintaining financial requirements of grant and contracts Leadership * Alignment - building consensus among executive team and board members for strategic decisions and the related financial implications * Team - Inspiring, coaching, training and developing Finance and the larger ACOG team, all-in and hands-on* Minimum of ten years of broad financial management experience * Minimum of three years of experience as CFO or equivalent in an organization with a budget of $15-$100 million * Compelling experience in: + Driving strategy development and innovation to improved financial performance + Bringing business insight through robust analytics + Refining and automating financial processes, including the development of user-friendly tools, deploying suitable technology. + Leading a team through significant change to engagement in a shared vision, collaboratively creating and implementing new processes and structures aligned with strategic objectives + Building trust among diverse groups of people, including staff and members, and facilitating processes of alignment * Understanding of leading technology to support financial accounting, financial planning, financial reporting and data visualization, time reporting, T&E management, A/P and A/R, and related financial applications * Comfortable building models and performing analysis as well as directing the same * Collaborative and flexible management style, persuasive and diplomatic in moving decisions forward * Strong determination to achieve success * Effective, clear and open communicator * Passion for women's health * Strong work ethic, customer service orientation and willingness to roll-up sleeves when necessary; strive for continuous improvement * Willingness to travel as needed (estimated 4-6x per year)
