Harford Community College has served as an anchor institution in Harford County since its inception in 1957. We are a mid-sized, comprehensive college committed to serving our community through high caliber educational offerings and cultural events. As we celebrated our 60th anniversary, Harford Community College embarked on a journey to examine and reset its foundation. To that end, we recently became an Achieving the Dream institution, are working with Campus Works to redesign our student experience, and are actively building a strong data infrastructureA cents € "all in preparation for a 2019 strategic plan that will launch Harford Community College into the future. Our beautiful, 352-acre campus is located in the heart of vibrant Harford County, Maryland, and conveniently located near Baltimore, MD; Philadelphia, PA; Washington, DC; and Wilmington, DE. We offer more than 70 affordable degree and certificate programs to nearly 2,000 full-time and 7,500 part-time students, as well as a wide variety of noncredit continuing education courses to nearly 11,000 students per year. This is a 10-month, tenure-track faculty position scheduled to begin August 2018. The faculty member is responsible for leading and assessing a growing Criminal Justice program, including innovative curriculum development and instructional delivery, and for teaching a range of Criminal Justice courses, including introduction to corrections, police organization and administration, and criminology. This person will join a team of 15 dynamic, innovative and eager faculty team members engaged in making a difference for students. A master's degree in criminal justice or a related subject for criminal justice professionals and a minimum of one year full-time or equivalent adjunct college-level teaching experience in the subject area, preferably at a community college are required. Applicants must have demonstrated ability to teach a range of criminal justice courses; ability to interact effectively with students and potential students outside the classroom environment in discipline-related activities; experience using evidence-based pedagogies, ability to use innovative methodologies, techniques, technology and other delivery methods to continually improve student engagement and learning; ability to establish collaborative relationships with colleagues in other relevant disciplines to strengthen and grow the program; ability to establish effective relationships with local law enforcement agencies and local high schools; demonstrated ability to incorporate student learning objectives within courses and to assess these outcomes; and ability to assess, revise, and develop criminal justice curriculum. The ability to interact with students and potential students outside the classroom environment in discipline-related activities, effective communication skills, and a well-articulated understanding of the role of community colleges and their students are required.
