Simulation Technologist Job Purpose Towson University is currently accepting applications for a Simulation Technologist to support all clinical simulated patient care learning experiences for the department by developing, programming, testing, and running scenarios with faculty, performing pre-simulation and post-simulation activities, assisting faculty in managing and operating simulation equipment, return lab to pre-scenario condition and salvage re-usable supplies, maintaining and troubleshooting problems with simulation software, mannequins, task trainers, and lab equipment. Performing preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment according to manufacturers' recommendations, providing technical support for computer based multimedia systems and their components, moving equipment and supplies, maintaining documentation necessary to track inventory location and supply needs, assess and communicate supply needs to Lab Coordinator, demonstrate respect for the student as a new learner by communicating constructive feedback in appropriate ways and orient students to simulation center. Description Collaborates with faculty in the development, implementation, and evaluation of all simulation education experiences in the department. Prepares, operates, maintains and troubleshoots equipment in the lab and simulation center. Supports students to achieve clinical learning in a simulated patient care environment. Develops realism in simulated scenarios through use of moulage, props, and/or stage setting. Programs software to model simulators' physiological responses. Coordinates with College, University, and State leadership as requested to ensure students and faculty have adequate resources and opportunities for simulation and interprofessional education. Contributes to and attends national lab and simulation forums and conferences as appropriate to prepare and assess lab and simulation operational effectiveness. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree. Understanding of basic hospital facility utilities and medical or healthcare clinical practices. A minimum of two years of experience in Medical Simulation or adult healthcare education. Experience with application of adult learning theories and debriefing models. Proficiency with hardware such as PC and Mac computers, video cameras and microphones, proficiency with software such as Word and Excel, and other simulation technologies. The applicant must be organized, detail-oriented and have strong communication skills; be able to work a flexible schedule with varied hours (days, evenings, and occasional weekends); be creative and flexible in designing innovative approaches to solving problems; and be able to lift and carry 50-75 pounds. Preferred: Formal training or experience with low, mid-range, and high fidelity simulations and virtual reality simulators and Master's degree preferred. A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
