The Vice President position offers excellent career opportunities for talented, highly-motivated and experienced professionals with significant prior experience. The Vice President will act as a thought leader in the practice, helping shape our market-facing point of view, and will lead, manage, and/or participate as a SME on teams delivering services with newly signed and existing clients by managing the overall engagement execution, the quality of consulting deliverables, and the identification and pursuit of downstream projects for both the consulting team and the broader Advisory Board portfolio.. The Vice President will provide management, supervision, and leadership to engagement teams. He or she will be responsible for deepening client relationships and becoming the go-to strategic thought partner for his or her clients, enabling the identification of follow on work which the Vice President will ultimately be responsible for scoping, negotiating, and closing in collaboration with a Partner. This opportunity can be based nationwide. Preferable locations for candidates are Nashville, TN and Washington, DC , Client Engagement Delivery (Approximately 60% Time Allocation): - Direct responsibility for the oversight of engagement execution; for larger/more complex engagements the Principal/Senior Principal may act as the direct project lead; for smaller engagements he or she is more likely to supervise the work of a more junior project lead - Develop senior client relationships alongside Partner team and serve as conduit between successful project execution to build and support ongoing business development opportunities - Facilitate development of strategic plans and facilitate objective setting sessions - Participate in senior level engagement design, evaluation, and prioritization processes - Provide strategic input to the development of program roadmaps and timelines - Participate/lead as SME in on-going and new projects as requested - Create a team-oriented work climate that enables professional development and encourages creative solutions and strategies - Coach the project team, as needed, around analytic approaches and deliverable creation - Support the management of resources within and across engagements - Support engagement communication plan and execution - Require that quality assurance methods are implemented within the engagement - Provide status updates and review of engagements to senior leadership - Provide coaching and mentoring to project manager and other team members, with the goal of developing and retaining talent within the organization Business Development (Approximate 30% Time Allocation): - Build and cultivate relationships with existing clients and new prospects at the senior leadership and Board levels - Identify, qualify, and scope opportunities for consulting work as well as opportunities across the broader Advisory Board portfolio - Manage the sales process for follow-on sales with support from senior practice leadership A cents € " this may include development of pitch materials, in-person or telephonic presentations, and development of proposals - Provide coverage, as needed, with client VIP days and other new business opportunities Staff/Practice Development and Thought Leadership(Approximate 10% Time Allocation): - Provide subject matter expertise and creative development of offerings to expand the capabilities of the practice - Contribute to the knowledge repository of the practice and maintain currency in areas of critical interest to our clients - Define and develop reusable tools and processes which will accelerate the delivery of projects - Identify and own the development of new consulting solutions that will be brought to market at the direction of practice leadership - Participate in new consultant recruiting as well as training and mentoring with more junior staff - Participate in consultant performance evaluation and managementMaster's degree and/or equivalent experience in a healthcare-related field required, with previous consulting experience required - Proven experience managing complex, client-facing projects spanning from inception to implementation - Experience in the coordination, management, and effective participation on teams with diverse skill sets (eg, technical, clinical, operations) - Superb problem-solving, coaching and interpersonal skills - Proven verbal and written communication skills including the ability to present effectively to senior management - 10-15 years of work experience in healthcare management and/or strategy, or equivalent consulting experience; 3-5+ years of work experience in one or more key areas of strategic focus for health systems, eg, network/partnership development, value transformation, consumer strategy, etc. - Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and supervise staff in a collaborative and matrixed team environment - Excellent analytical skills and the ability to both understand and further ABC's products and processes - Ability to lead and manage complex client engagements and develop next-level practice capabilities - Travel as indicated to meet the needs of assigned consulting engagements A cents € " typically a minimum of 50% travel should be expectedConsistent with our belief that our employees are our most valuable resource, Advisory Board offers a competitive benefits package. - Medical, dental, and vision insurance, dependents eligible - 401(k) retirement plan with company match - 20+ days paid time off and 10+ paid company holidays - Wellness programs including gym discounts and incentives to promote healthy living - Benefits kick in day one, see the full details here Advisory Board is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
