  • You may qualify at the GS-14 , if you fulfill the following qualifications:

    A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:
    1. Experience in DoD research and development in CBRN Protection and Hazard Mitigation science and technology.
    2. Experience and knowledge of scientific and engineering principles applicable to chemical and biological defense and specific expertise applicable to CBRN Protection and Hazard Mitigation.
    3. Experience creating research and development programs/projects in response to user needs and priorities.
    4. Experience developing financial plans associated with multi-project research and development portfolios.
    5. Experience managing financial resources to achieve obligation and expenditure goals.

    B. Biologist (0401) series: Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
    1a. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in B above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

    OR

    C. Physical Scientist (1301) series: Degree: physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering that included 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by course work in mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics.
    1a. Combination of education and experience -- course work equivalent to a major as shown in C above, including at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, supplemented by mathematics through differential and integral calculus, and at least 6 semester hours of physics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret-Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS-SCI) security clearance.

    Duties usually require an advance degree in the biological or physical sciences.

    ACQUISITION POSITION: This is an Acquisition Workforce position in the Science and Technology Management career field. The incumbent will be required to become certified, Level II in the applicable career field within 24 months, unless a Position Requirements Waiver is approved to extend the 24 months. The incumbent is required to acquire a minimum of 40 continuous learning points (CLPs) every fiscal year as a goal and 80 CLPs being mandatory within 2 years.

    Status candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade level).
