Requirements

Data Analyst, Office of the Registrar - Georgetown University Law Center

The Data Analyst provides leadership in enhancing the use of existing administrative systems and exploring new technologies to support the Office of the Registrar's many functions. S/he develops, organizes, and executes technological functions of the Office of the Registrar while creating and maintaining business processes documentation; and creates and maintains informational and training materials for faculty, students, and staff as applicable. Reporting to the Senior Associate Registrar for Techno logy, Training, and Compliance.

Technology, Training, and Compliance Team Support

  • Serves as project manager for new and enhanced technological functions and processes.
  • Share responsibilities for data reporting and analysis, and operation and enhancement of existing technologies with Systems &Data Analyst.
  • Assists in website development and maintenance
  • Streamlines requests from other offices and builds standard reports that contain all requested data.
  • Represents the Law Center on University-wide and student information systems (Banner) technology committees.
  • Creates, maintains, and presents Data Security and FERPA policies to current and new Law Center employees.
  • Creates and disseminates technical and end-user documentation.
  • Provides end user technology training on relevant student information systems.
  • Ensures requestors have complied with all Data Security and FERPA trainings prior to data delivery.

Operations and Academic Records Team Support

  • Explores and implements technological enhancements - determines needs of office and how they can be met using existing/new technologies.
  • Assists Registrars In developing and/or advertising existing/new policies.
  • Assists with technology projects in collaboration with the Admissions Office and 1ST in transferring paper documents to electronic records
  • Creates and updates standard operating procedures and shared timelines for office functions.
  • Assists the Office of the Registrar functional teams and work with other administrative departments in creating standard led reports.

Registration and Commencement Team Support

  • Provides technical support during registration, orientation, and commencement - for example, assisting the Registrars in the management of processes for ensuring that controls are accurately reflected and that results are available to students, faculty, and administrators In a timely manner in collaboration with the Registration and Commencement Team.
  • Manages troubleshooting issues with MyDegree, the University's online degree-audit program.
  • Works closely with the Registration and Commencement Team and the Office of Admissions to generate student credentials and facilitate student entry into MyAccess.

Exam Administration and Grades Processing and Reporting Team Support

  • Provides technical support during exams, for example, responding to inquiries by students or faculty regarding issues with the online exam management system, working closely with 1ST in cases of irretrievable exams, and providing  support  for  in-class  exam  tracking.
  • Acts as Registrar representative in the event of in-class exam issues at the start and/or end of the exam time slots.
  • Provides technical support during grades processing activities in collaboration with the Exam Administration and Grades Processing and Reporting Team.
  • Produces and updates instructional materials for students on exam laptop usage, exam upload process, and the Proctor Handbook in collaboration with the Exam Administration and Grades Processing and Reporting Team.

Office Administration

  • As assigned, assists orientation processes, registration processes, exam administration, grades processing, graduation clearance, and commencement activities. 
  • Serves as backup to the Senior Associate Registrar (Techno logy);
  • Attends training and supports activities towards the definition and configuration of the student information system (Banner) modules and related software;
  • Represents the Law Center on university-wide and student information systems (Banner) technology committees as needed; and other committee, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree - preferably in Business Management or Computer Science preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a Registrar's Office or similar technology-based workplace
  • Complex project management experience
  • Proficiency in database management, including reporting/analysis
  • Progressively responsible experience in producing technical and end-user documentation. 
  • Availability and willingness to respond to technical emergencies during peak periods, as needed, outside of normal business hours
  • Self-motivation and direction with the ability to work independently
  • Capability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy and within strict deadlines
  • Incumbent must maintain the highest levels of professionalism and office decorum, while retaining the interpersonal skills necessary to  successfully relate to our constituents 
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, accountability, excellent leadership skills, good listening skills, and an ability to establish priorities are critical to success in this position
  • Ability to communicate well various technical team members and with wide  variety of  end-users
  • Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of student records
  • Availability and willingness to work extended hours during peak periods such as orientation, registration, exam administration, graduation clearance, and commencement.

Preferred qualifications

  • Working knowledge and prior use of Banner, Cognos, SQL, Microsoft Access, and other Microsoft Suite of products, database creation and management, and production of ad hoc programs
  • Technology use training experience
