Department of Stateside Military Operations
Exempt, Regular, 100% Full Time, Pay Grade 3.4
Regional Director (Western Region) provides leadership and direction for UMUC staff members at all military installations within the region in addition to advancing recruitment and retention strategies created to allow the military locations and the University to meet its enrollment goals. Reporting to the Assistant Viced President of Operations and Enrollment, the Director will also coordinate student services and course scheduling at each site, create or enhance relationships with business and community stakeholders in addition to managing facilities for each site. The Regional Director will collaboratively work with key offices and departments across the University to achieve institutional goals.
Regional Director (Western Region) initial location is Largo, Maryland and rotates every two years between stateside, Europe and Asia. The first rotation for this position is July 2020.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Manage daily operations and supervise staff members on military installations in the designated region of the United States, including the oversight of National Test Centers and commercial site locations.
Develop, implement, and monitor outreach activities and events with the ultimate goal of increasing student retention within a fast-paced, high-volume student contact center environment.
Coach, monitor and evaluate productivity of employees through various channels including observations in employee's environment as it pertains to student services and the needs of the installation.
Liaise with colleagues and peers, departments, faculty members, the Registrar's Office and the Office of Institutional Planning and Accountability as related to enrollment initiatives.
Provide assistance/problem resolution with difficult/complex customer issues.
Compile and analyze enrollment data to ensure enrollment goals are achieved while using various reporting tools available.
Investigate and utilize relevant market research to develop strategies aimed at increasing the profile of each site to impact enrollment goals.
Utilize data trend reports to determine location expansion opportunities in line with department and university strategic goals.
Coordinate processes and events that ensure students receive timely and exemplary service through the recruiting, admission, advising and registration processes at each site.
Create, implement and manage innovative course scheduling to increase retention of students at each site.
Develop new and maintain existing relationships with corporate partners, community colleges and other military and veteran community stakeholders.
Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to build, cultivate and leverage personal and professional networks and relationships, develop and deliver successful presentations, and collaborate and negotiate effectively.
Strong commitment to professional development and mentoring.
Effectively manage budget line items to support remote operations away from Adelphi/Largo.
Collaborate with Assistant Vice President to make recommendations for individual and team training needs, opportunities, and business process improvement in addition to increasing enrollment goals through innovative pathways.
Manage and address student, faculty and staff issues to move toward an amicable solutions.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to meet recruitment and retention goals as well as to improve business processes.
Occasional travel to regional site locations.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Demonstrated leadership skills and strong ability to hire, coach and lead staff to meet expectations. Demonstrated knowledge of enrollment management trends as it pertains to meeting targeted recruitment and retention goals using advanced technology and other mediums for adult students. Demonstrated ability to make data-driven decisions is required. Demonstrated success in working with both internal and external stakeholders to advance the mission of the University and department. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree required from an accredited institution of higher learning; one to three years of supervisory experience. Demonstrated ability to build and lead highly effective teams to achieve stated goals. At least five years of enrollment management and advising experience in higher education.
