INTERN, DYNAMICS OF PROTECTED AREA GOVERNANCE
Conservation International (CI) has been protecting nature for the benefit of all for over 30 years. Through science, policy, and partnerships, CI is helping build a healthier, more prosperous and more productive planet.
National parks and other protected areas (PAs) are the foundation of global efforts to conserve biological diversity. Although conservation policy and practice assume that PAs are permanent fixtures on the landscape, protected area downgrading, downsizing, and degazettement (PADDD) is widespread. To advance scientific understanding and inform conservation decision-making, our team has been identifying and documenting PADDD events and causes; analyzing spatial patterns and temporal trends; and quantifying PADDD impacts on natural capital and ecosystem services.
Review of applications will begin on March 26, 2018
