FIG & OLIVE is about passion for the best olive oils, flavors and cuisine from the Riviera & Coastal regions of the South of France, Italy and Spain. Our large variety of extra virgin olive oils was selected to be paired with each dish and to be offered for tasting at the beginning of each meal. With fresh, seasonal ingredients and simple preparation, our cuisine exudes the genuine taste of food, from a ripe heirloom tomato, a leaf of aromatic basil, to a fresh grilled fish finished with lemon, rosemary, thyme and olive oil-simplicity, healthiness and refined flavors at their best. PURPOSE The purpose of a Host/Hostess is to welcome and warmly greet guests on arrival, answer telephone, take reservations and manage the efficient and timely seating of our guests to a table that best serves their wishes. This position is to perform the above duties in a friendly & courteous manner while maintaining a smooth flow throughout the restaurant. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES Embody and understand FIG & OLIVE's concept and be able to share knowledge with guests Greet all guests promptly and graciously upon arrival Answer telephone and respond to guests' inquiries in a professional manner Direct any calls to the appropriate extension (Ex: reroute to Reservations in the Support Center etc.) Assist servers, food-runners or bartenders as necessary Communicate special requests and needs of guests with staff and managers Complete additional tasks at the request of a manager along with End of Shift Responsibilities Maintain and clean front desk area at all times Open front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant when possible Record guest name and number of people in party when immediate seating is limited Attend to guest and party when tables become available Provide guests with estimated wait time, while always maintaining a professional, courteous attitude when confronted with hostile, impatient or irate guests Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible Seat guests based on guest preferences and balancing of customer flow in service stations Offer guests a menu and inspect table for proper presentation and completeness Relay messages to servers and bussers as needed Maintain necessary supplies at the host stand (menus, notepads, etc.) Relay guest comments to and perform other duties as assigned by the manager on duty Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in high-volume fine dining restaurant Excellent verbal & telephone skills to be able to communicate clearly & effectively with guests Excellent oral communication & interpersonal skills required Must be a team player & demonstrate organizational skills Ability to stand for long periods of time Knowledge of OpenTable & Micros preferred Must have Open Availability (AM & PM) & be able to work on weekdays, weekends, & holidays Food Handlers Card / ServSafe Certification The statements in this job description are intended to describe the essential job functions being performed.
