Primary Care Physician - VA Locum Tenens
76% or greater - Physicians are expected to work a minimum of (2) 90 day assignments per year.

- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Physical Requirements: The physical requirements of this position are concerned with the mental and physical ability of the applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the proposed assignment and may include requisite laboratory and other screening as required by Federal regulatory agencies.

Federal intermittent employees who are expected to work 130 hours per month or more for a minimum of 90 days will be eligible to enroll in a Federal Employees Health Benefit plan (FEHB), but are not entitled to paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, life insurance, thrift savings plan, or participation in the Federal Employees Retirement System. Current, permanent VA Employees who are selected for a temporary physician position will lose their leave benefits upon transferring into the VA Interim Staffing Program. Accrued annual leave will be paid out upon transfer, and accrued sick leave will remain on file should the physician return to part-time or full-time employment at the conclusion of this temporary appointment. Current VA employees will retain previously elected health, vision and dental benefits upon transfer. Retirement and Thrifts Savings Plan benefits will be prorated based on hours and/or days worked. Federal Employees Group Life Insurance will be reduced to an amount commensurate with annual salary, but no less than $10,000.
