TRAVEL REQUIRED:

75% or less - You may be required to travel to a disaster site during increased disaster activity for extended periods with little or no advanced notice. If so, you may encounter hazardous working and/or living conditions; i.e., no water or electricity and/or minimal lodging facilities. Travel expenses are compensated based on SBA policy and Federal regulations.

    Experience:
    To receive credit, you must indicate the month and year as well as the average hours worked per week for each employer. Average work hours must be stated on resume to quantify each period of work experience or that experience will not be credited toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.
    You must address the specific specialized experience required for each grade level of this position on your resume or application or you will be rated "Ineligible" for that grade level.

    GS-11: To qualify you must have at least 1 full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the GS-09 level in the Federal service that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skill, and ability to perform successfully in this position. This experience may have been gained in a Non-Federal service position. In addition, this Specialized Experience must demonstrate the following:
    • Planning, organizing and preparing various communications, such as press releases, presentations, articles, photos, flyers, etc. for the media or public audiences; AND
    • Explaining an organization's commercial (business) lending and/or financial programs, policies, and procedures directly to the public or directly to the media (print, radio and/or television) as the organization's representative or spokesperson. Consumer and credit card lending is not commercial (business) lending; AND
    • Analyzing or interpreting at least 2 of the following business financial documents: tax returns, income (profit and loss) statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and schedules of liabilities for at least 2 of the following types of business ownership structures: sole proprietorships, corporations, partnerships, and Limited Liability Companies (LLCs). You must specify the financial documents used and business ownership structures you worked with in your resume to receive credit.
    Additional Requirement: In addition to the above specialized experience for the GS-11 level, applicants must demonstrate proficiency in using Microsoft Office programs including MS Word, Outlook and Chrome, or comparable computer applications/programs.

    GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited college or university or three full years (54 semester hours or equivalent) of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a related field.

    A combination of experience and education as indicated above.

    GS-12: There is no educational substitution at this grade level.

    Intermittent employees generally are not eligible for Federal benefits (life insurance, health insurance, retirement). However, if enrolled in benefits in the preceding appointment, those benefits will continue in this position provided there is no break in service of more than 3 days. Also, if you work or are expected to work at least 90 consecutive days and 130 hours per month, you will become eligible for health insurance benefits only. If you are in a non-pay status for 365 days your Federal health and/or life benefits will terminate.

    Application of Veterans' Preference: The Category Rating process protects the rights of veterans by placing them ahead of non-veterans within each quality category. All the veterans must be selected before any non-veterans within each category.
