  • Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
  • Complete the initial online assessment and USAHire Assessment, if required
  • For the GS13: You must have at least one year of experience at the GS-12 level performing a full range of duties involved in conducting or reviewing Federal personnel background investigations for suitability and/or National security such as: Thorough review of Federal investigative material (e.g., reports, testimony, and documentary evidence) for accuracy and completeness, for compliance with law. Responsibility for the most difficult, sensitive, and complex cases. For example, the work involved conducting or reviewing Federal personnel background investigations with psychological issues or extensive criminal activity. Responsibility for mentoring and training junior employees. Acting as a team leader or supervisor for a work unit of professional, technical, and clerical staff. Responsibility for monitoring the quality of investigative work performed by others, preparing written critiques, and describing and monitoring any needed rework.

    Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS 13 level.

    You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    This job does not have an education qualification requirement.

    Relocation expenses will be paid.

    The full performance level of this position is GS-13.
