Plans, organizes, and maintains a public health dental program at the Mount Vernon District Office, with a mission to provide high-quality dental care to underserved communities. Provides comprehensive general dentistry services and preventive oral health services, primarily to children and to a limited number of adults. Instructs community, school, and other groups on preventive oral health care services. Serves as liaison with local health professionals and organizations to promote good community oral health awareness.
Note: This is 20 hour a week job share position and appointee must be available to work a schedule of Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Graduation from an approved school of dentistry; possession of a valid license to practice dentistry in Virginia.
Experience in a public health setting.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
- a National Provider Identifier number.
- Valid Federal D.E.A. number.
- Cardio-Pulmonary Certification within one year of hire date.
- A driver's license is required.
The following duties are performed with or without reasonable accommodation: required to walk, stand, sit, bend, kneel, reach, and climb stairs and carrying of items under 15 pounds in weight. Uses hands to grasp, handle or feel. Visual acuity is required to read data on a computer monitor and conduct dental care. Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment. Ability to communicate and exchange information with others verbally and in writing.
