- You must possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service, experience initiating, developing, implementing and evaluating the security programs of an organization; providing expert advice, counsel and instructions to employees and supervisors on security issues; establishing and maintaining relationships with internal and external groups working with legal, internal audits, physical security, and other information security matters.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification and/or other network, systems, and application security certifications/qualifications.
GS-13 (or equivalent): individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
