  • Incumbent to obtain and maintain the following certifications within six (6) months of employment: (1) DoD Telecommunicator I and II and (2) DoD HAZMAT Awareness level certification.

  • Incumbent to obtain and maintain the following certifications within six (6) months of employment: (1) Emergency Medical Dispatching Certification from either Power Phone OR Auxiliary Power Unit (APU), (2) Advance Fire Services Dispatching
  • Incumbent to obtain and maintain the following certifications within six (6) months of employment: (1) Advance Police Services Dispatching, (2) Non-Emergency Call Handling, (3) Domestic Violence Intervention, (6) Suicide Intervention.
  • Incumbent to obtain and maintain the following certifications within six (6) months of employment: , (1) 9-1-1 Liability, (2) Hazardous Materials Preparedness for Dispatchers, and (3) Advance Public Safety Dispatching.
  • This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. Employee is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R and MUST pass a urinalysis test prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position requires the incumbent to work shift work. This entails working an alternate work schedule requiring an uncommon tour of duty to include nights, weekends and holidays.
  • This position requires the employee to wear a uniform.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess, obtain, and maintain a National Agency Check with Inqquires (NACI) Tier 1 Background Investigation.

    In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.     Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Answer emergency 911 calls. 2) Dispatch appropriate equipment which requires knowledge of the various types of equipment/vehicles required for different emergency situations. 3) Perform intervention with distraught emergency callers during high risk situations until appropriate emergency response units arrive on the scene. 4) Provide instruction to callers on emergency medical procedures. 5) Monitor computerized dispatch, fire alarm systems. 6) Operate automated record systems to maintain reports and retrieve information. 7) Operate communications equipment to include Telecommunication Device for the Deaf (TDD). 8) Possess computer skills and map reading skills. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
