Operations is one of the largest divisions in the firm and has diverse responsibilities, including correctly settling and recording millions of transactions per day, identifying and mitigating all operational risks, developing strong client relationships and partnering with technology to realize the full potential of IT and e-solutions. Throughout, the Operations department continually seeks ways to improve while actively supporting the development of new businesses, structures and markets. The Cash Settlements organization is a cross product settlement utility, providing settlement support across a number of asset classes, with coverage in Baltimore, Glasgow, Tokyo and India. Cash Settlements primarily supports the monitoring, control, and management of cash settlement transactions for Over-the-Counter (OTC) Credit, Interest, Equity Derivatives, Foreign Exchange, and Commodities products. The core roles and responsibilities are to minimize the risk and exposure to the Firm from these transactions by ensuring the settlement of funds in a timely manner to and from the Firm's clients, counterparties and custodians. Additionally, the group performs post settlement reconciliation, fail and break resolution and client support functions. The position requires daily interaction with various clients and broker dealers globally, in addition to Morgan Stanley Sales and Trading desks, Trade Support, Finance, other Operations groups, and Technology teams. Cash Settlements is divided into several teams by product and function. This offers the successful candidate the opportunity to learn the intricacies of a variety of complex products and functions within the larger Settlements team. Each team is responsible for controlling risk by managing relationships with clients and counterparties to ensure that high risk settlements are settled in a timely manner and any post-settlement issues or discrepancies are identified, escalated appropriately and resolved. Primary ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be required to oversee and manage a team of individuals covering Settlement related functions within the wider Cash Settlements team. Primary responsibilities include: - Manage a team of individuals through fostering a collaborative team environment, with a strong focus on strengthening knowledge within the team and growing individuals? in their careers - Escalation point for issues and settlement discrepancies with external clients, counterparties, and other operational teams- Build on analysis of current processes to identify control weaknesses, streamline processes, and improve efficiencies within the team- Define and drive the implementation of Global Standards and Best Practices- Maintain Client and Business Unit relationships through stakeholder management - Support applicable Change the Bank and Run the Bank Projects impacting the team, providing support, testing and monitoring into Production. - Participation in industry forums, where applicable Qualifications Skills required (essential)- Bachelor?s degree with a minimum of eight years of experience within a financial services or operations environment- Communication skills: Strong combination of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills - Leadership skills: Proven coaching and performance management skills, with an aptitude for fostering a collaborative team-oriented environment - Teamwork skills: Strong ability to prioritize, work efficiently and accurately under pressure in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment- Client Management skills: Demonstrated ability in being flexible and working with stakeholders and colleagues at all experience levels- Analytical skills: Highly analytical and investigative skills, with experience in using objective data to drive strategic recommendations- Client Relationship skills: Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact and build relationships with internal and external clients- Proactive, self-starter with a motivation to learn quickly - Experience in Derivative Operations is desirable, but not required A little about us: Since its founding in 1935, Morgan Stanley and its people have helped redefine the meaning of financial services.
