Applicants must be a graduate from a full course study in a School of Law accredited by the American Bar Association and be a member in good standing of the bar of a state, territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
In addition to meeting the basic qualification requirements described above, applicants must also have the following additional years of professional legal experience for the grade level indicated:
--GS-12 = 1 year (12 months) of legal experience after graduation from law school.
--GS-13 = 2 years (24 months) of legal experience after graduation from law school.
--GS-14 = 3 years (36 months) of legal experience after graduation from law school.
--GS-15 = 4or more years (48 months or greater) of legal experience after graduation from law school.
Specialized experience is experience directly related to the work of the position to be filled, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Applicant must possess a J.D. Degree and be a graduate from a full course of study in a School of Law accredited by the American Bar Association.
All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools that meet this criteria, see www.ed.gov
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above education requirements if you can show that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
