Financial Regulatory Analyst Prestigious DC law firm has an opportunity for a Financial Regulatory Analyst will work with the Financial Institute Advisory (FIA) team on client advisory and transactional matters, including assisting with legal and factual research, preparing client memoranda and regulatory filings.  Candidate should have a strong working knowledge of the US banking and consumer financial laws and regulations and the US financial regulatory issues affecting the Firm’s US and non-US financial institution clients, including banks and nonbanks.   A Strong understanding of how fintech and regtech are reshaping the ways in which financial services are provided to consumers. The Financial Regulatory Analyst will be responsible for monitoring financial industry issues, including legislation, regulatory agency rulemakings, guidance and other issuances with a view towards identifying relevant considerations for the Firm’s financial institution clients and other Firm practices and to keep the FIA team apprised of such developments.  The Analyst also assists in drafting FIA team thought leadership pieces, client alerts and other presentations on legal and regulatory issues of interest to the Firm’s financial institution clients.  Additional responsibilities include: Assist in drafting client memoranda and offering disclosures relating to the BHC Act and the Dodd-Frank Act, including application of the Title X Consumer Financial Protection Act provisions and related regulations of the CFPB Conduct and prepare surveys on US banking law issues affecting FIA bank and nonbank clients in providing financial services and/or providing services to other financial institutions, such as application of state licensing requirements and bank charter requirements Assist in drafting, proofreading, revising and fact checking FIA team thought leadership and client alerts Follow and report on US federal financial reform legislation and initiatives and proposed rulemakings and other issuances by the US federal banking regulators, the CFPB and state banking regulator initiatives Assist in preparing applications by FIA clients to US federal and state banking regulators and submit filings using specialized software Maintain detailed organization of FIA team precedents relating to US bank regulatory and consumer financial regulatory issues handled by the FIA team Assist in researching and advising nonbank financial product and service providers, including fintechs and regtechs, on the application of US federal and state banking laws Draft periodic reports on banking and financial industry developments customized for particular FIA clients, such as bi-weekly newsletters Monitor industry trade press and report to FIA team on items of special interest, relating to legal and regulatory developments or client-related news on matters being advised on by the FIA team Review and assist with preparation of marketing and business development materials, including creating and maintaining descriptions and summaries of FIA team client matters. A college degree is required along with a high GPA (3.3 or above).  Candidate should have related work experience in a corporate or law firm environment, in the legal or compliance department of a large multinational financial services company, as a research or legislative aide on financial services issues to Congress, a Congressional committee or at a federal financial agency, such as the CFPB; or as a financial reporter for a banking regulatory publication.
