About Applications Development at UPS Technology: Our Application Development teams use their expertise in programming languages and software design to develop next-generation technology. They are responsible for developing the applications which track and move up to 38 million packages in a single day (4.7 billion annually). This team works closely with all of our customers to build innovative technologies that are customized to drive our business and provide the ultimate customer experience. As an App Developer, you will help UPS grow and provide valuable services across the globe. About this role: The Intermediate Applications Developer provides input and support for full systems life cycle management activities (eg, analyses, technical requirements, design, coding, testing, implementation of systems and applications software, etc.). He/She performs tasks within planned durations and established deadlines. This position collaborates with teams to ensure effective communication in supporting the achievement of objectives. He/She provides knowledge, development, maintenance, and support for applications. The Intermediate Applications Developer w ill be a member of the Strategic Package Planning Systems development team responsible for high performance, real-time applications that are critical to UPS operations. Responsibilities include: Participation in requirements analysis, system and software designs, coding, unit testing, product test support, and deployment support. Technical focus is on the server-side (vs. GUI) implementation of real-time, database-driven applications, services, and service management components written in C++, C#, and SQL using Microsoft Visual Studio and related toolsets. To achieve desired levels of performance, application databases are implemented in CTree (FairCom); experience with this product/platform is a plus, not a requirement. Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to take direction, work collaboratively as a member of a team, and interact effectively and professionally with other developers, QA personnel, management, and representatives of the business. Must be able to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences--both orally and in writing. Must have experience writing technical documentation, including but not limited to software design specifications, interface specifications, and user manuals. Intermediate-level proficiency with: Agile Development C# .NET C++ Object Oriented Analysis & Design SQL Programming Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering (Systems, Computer, or Electrical) 3-5 years software development experience on the Microsoft platform; experience with all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle This position offers an exceptional opportunity to work for a Fortune 50 industry leader.
