Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-08 level (or ZT-II at NIST). Specialized experience is defined as experience with production methods, machine controllers and mechanical instruments. the methods and techniques of engineering; and the construction, application, properties, operation, and limitations of engineering systems, processes, devices and material, with various types of cutting tools and speed & feed selections for difference material types, fabricating mechanical parts and assemblies for metrology instruments, with CAD/CAM software, with CNC programming and CNC machining, with manual lathe and milling techniques, reading and creating mechanical drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerances.
Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree directly related to the work of the position.
