Experience: You qualify for this position if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. You qualify for this position if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position Specialized experience is defined as experience performing investigations of criminal violations; analyzing or evaluating raw investigative data and preparing comprehensive written investigative reports and investigating complex claims involving suspected crimes.
Education cannot be substitued at this grade level.

Physical Requirements: The duties of the positions in this series require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that applicants may perform the duties satisfactorily. Sufficiently good vision in each eye, with or without correction is required to perform the duties satisfactorily. Near vision, corrective lenses permitted, must be sufficient to read printed materials the size of typewritten characters. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz levels. Since the duties of these positions are exacting and responsible, and involve activities under trying conditions, applicants must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition that would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself/herself, or others is disqualifying.

- Knowledge of and experience using criminal investigative information in procurement, administrative law, and personnel matters.
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, and decisions relating to methods of conducting interviews, interrogations, surveillance, and preparing and executing search and arrest warrants.
- Knowledge of investigative techniques such as search and seizure and collection and the preservation of evidence.
- Ability to prepare comprehensive, professional investigative reports, which serve as the basis for preparing cases for legal or administrative action.
- Ability to and experience in testifying accurately and convincingly at legal proceedings.
- Knowledge of specialized technical investigative devices and equipment.
