Public Health Nutritionist - Georgetown University Medical Center

The Public Health Nutritionist engages in nutrition related cancer research in collaboration with scientist, staff, and the community to enhance productivity and significance of research inclusive of cancer prevention through cancer survivorship. S/he commits to minority health and health disparities research that focuses on the application of food and nutrition knowledge, and policy in efforts to improve the health of underserved populations. The Public Health Nutritionist has duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Acts as Director of Nutrition Intake Lab.
  • Oversees cancer-related nutrition studies and implements protocols.
  • Establishes community based nutrition education programs.
  • Supervises and trains community outreach staff, investigators, and students in dietary assessments and analyses.
  • Publishes nutrition-related manuscripts and assists in the preparation of grants with nutrition focus.
  • Supports researchers in nutrition related grant applications among Lombardi Cancer Center and Georgetown University faculty. 
  • Develops a nutrition core to serve the needs of the Cancer Prevention and Control investigators at Lombardi Cancer Center.

Requirements

  • RD or RDN, MS in Nutrition; MSPH in nutrition preferred
  • 2 years of experience in nutrition and/or dietetics
  • Experience or interest in working with underrepresented minority populations and addressing nutrition related disparities as it relates to cancer prevention and control as well as cancer survivorship
