Research Assistant, Early Childhood Innovation Network - Georgetown University Medical Center

The Early Childhood Innovation Network (ECIN) is a local collaborative of health and education providers, community-based organizations, researchers, and advocates promoting resilience in families and children from pregnancy through age 5 in Washington, DC. The Research Assistant assists in the basic conduct of research related to behavioral, scientific, statistical, technical, or social/public policy issues. Reporting to a Research Associate, the Research Assistant has duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Manages study logistics and processes.
  • Conducts literature searches, reviews and syntheses of various topical areas in children's mental health, home, and community-based services and support.
  • Organizes and maintains research and evaluation resources/library/references.
  • Assists in developing framework to organize existing community resources, conducting the necessary research.
  • Creates a database to organize existing community resources. 
  • Assists with organizing and writing Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications, progress and evaluation reports, and research articles.
  • Develops and revises evaluation instruments, training, presentation, and dissemination materials.
  • Conducts data collection, entry, management, and analysis for research and evaluation studies, either quantitative or qualitative.
  • Participates in ECIN team meetings and attends all relevant project-related activities.


  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, public health, or other relevant field
  • 1 year of experience in a research setting with knowledge of library and web-related research
  • Basic knowledge of the principles, processes, and methods of social science research through reading literature and/or experience in the field
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with an interest in early childhood
  • Working knowledge of quantitative or qualitative statistical software (SPSS, STATA, Atlas.ti) and/or mapping software (ArcGIS)
  • Preference for experience conducting literature reviews and working in community settings
