Summary

PenFed is hiring a Mortgage Disclosure Specialist in our Alexandria Service Center in Alexandria, VA. The primary purpose of this job is to manage and send mortgage disclosures on behalf of the loan orgination team, maintain strict adherence to compliance and regulatory requirements.

 

Essential Functions

    Review all mortgage files to ensure accuracy, completeness, and disclosure in the regulated time frame. Review all loan estimate documents to ensure accuracy and all appropriate fields are completed to prevent loan losses that could potentially occur from improper disclosure. Responsible for handling all initial disclosure, re-disclosure and rate locks timely per RESPA regulations. Process and send updated disclosures to the member within defined timelines of request being received. Review and lock loans according to policy pricing structure. Answer questions from originations staff and managers regarding pricing policies. Escalate any loans that are out of compliance for re-disclosure to management. Ensure exceptional member service by maintaining thorough knowledge of RESPA policies, procedures and regulatory requirements and demonstrating a commitment to professional ethics. Remains current on all mortgage related regulations and  PenFed policy changes. Knowledge and ability to review the Certificate of Eligibility on  VA  loans and accurately disclose the funding fee. Ingest documentation received from borrowers and review for any possible change in circumstance. Notify Loan Officers and Loan Processors of any important disclosing milestones. Resposible for reviewing purchase contracts in all states and properly disclose based on the terms.  
 

Education and Experience

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions.
  • Two years related work experience, in mortgage lending required. Strong written communications skills and attention to detail required. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced, deadline driven, team environment.
  • If an employee is in a bilingual position, their responsibilities will cover both English and Spanish speaking assignments related to the job duties listed in this job description.
 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will not supervise employees.

 

Licenses and Certifications

There are no additional certifications required.

 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.
