  • Position may or will require incumbent to: (1) Incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties: however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities.(2) May be required to work uncommon tour of duty. (3) Must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance. (4) This is a drug testing designated position (TDP). Incumbent will be subject to random testing. (5) Meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. (6) Work encompasses strenuous physical exertion; prolonged standing on production lines; climbing up and down ladders and scoffolds; working in cramped and awkward positions; reaching, lifting, and bending while using hand and powered tools in uncomfortable position for extended periods. (7) Works both inside and outside and subject to moderate amount of noise and vibration. When working outside is subject to a variety of weather conditions. (8) Weight lifted seldom exceeds 50 pounds. (9) Subject to cuts, bruises, falls, and burns. (10) Required to wear safety glasses when performing eye hazardous operations. (11) Some positions under this announcement may be covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sept 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberf Amdnement ) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of such position. Some positions under this announcement may be controlled positions covered by the Personal Reliability Program (PRP). (12) Some positions covered by this announcement may be designated as drug testing positions where the incumbent may be subject to random drug testing.

    Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

    Element A - Ability to do the Work of a Sheet Metal Mechanic (Aircraft/Painter) without more than normal supervision:
    Element B - Ability to Use Hand Tools, Power Tools, and Metal Working Machines for Sheet Metal Work: Independently select and use or operate, as needed, a complete cross-section of the types of hand and powered machines used.
    Element C - Ability to Assemble, Disassemble, Fabricate, and Repair Sheet Metal Systems, Components and Items:
    Element K - Ability to Work from Instructions, Specifications, Blueprints, Personal Inspections, etc.:
    Element L - Knowledge and Skills for Making Layouts, Patterns, and Templates Using Recognized Trade Methods and Practices:
    Element M - Knowledge of Materials: Knowledge of and ability to use materials (metal, non-metallic, coating and chemicals, etc.) used in performing structural/corrosion control work.

    FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.
