Admissions Advisor - Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies

Georgetown University's School of Continuing Studies (SCS) offers graduate programs in professional and liberal studies, more than 30 professional certificate programs, custom and corporate training and education, summer school and special programs, and the University's only part-time bachelor's program.

The Admissions Advisor carries out recruitment and admissions related activities for the Georgetown SCS programs. S/he manages and implements admissions recruitment plans specific to the programs within their portfolio and is responsible for the creation of a customized relationship-based advising for programs assigned by the Director of Admissions and Executive Director of Enrollment Management. Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Admissions Advisor has additional responsibilities that include but are not limited to:

  • Oversees the management of over 4,000 applications annually to Georgetown University's School of Continuing Studies.
  • Acts as the lead point of contact for reviewing applications for admission to SCS and manages an Admissions Review Committee for each program assigned to ensure accurate review of all student applications and compliance with federal laws and regulations.
  • Reviews applications for quality, ensuring accuracy and legitimacy of documents, calculating cumulative GPAs, and reviewing academic courses in determining admission to SCS.
  • Collaborates and leads a team of academic program staff and faculty directors on information and file sharing while determining the best fit for success in the applicant pool.
  • Incorporates aspects of the roles of facilitator, coach, customer service representative and sales representative in interactions with prospective students.
  • Proactively seeks out and counsels' prospective applicants on the admissions process and opportunities for study at Georgetown SCS via in-person appointments, recruitment events, phone calls and email. 
  • Successfully implements programs designed to recruit targeted prospective applicants to assigned programs. 
  • Attends college fairs and other community events, presenting the benefits of a Georgetown SCS education.
  • Facilitates the application process for prospective students and maintains admissions systems and data.
  • Helps to grow targeted programs while maintaining the correct size for others.


  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two or more years of progressive experience in an organizational setting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with database maintenance
  • Detail-oriented team player with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and a strong customer service orientation
  • Strong knowledge CRM and Application Systems such as: Salesforce, Hobson's Apply Yourself/Connect and Banner preferred
