Job Description:
The Cardiothoracic Surgery (CTS) Advanced Practice team at Sentara Heart Hospital (SHH) is seeking a full time APC to support our Heart Promise program. This role is devoted to the care of the pre-operative CTS patient population, utilizing the Sentara Heart Promise elements of care. The Heart Promise program ensures best practices are implemented for the cardiac surgery patient through all phases of care, pre-operatively through outpatient follow-up. The ideal candidate is one with a dedication for high quality care and excellence in customer service. A cardiothoracic surgery background and at least two years of nurse practitioner experience in a clinical setting is highly preferred. Critical care background is a must.

The Advanced Practitioner provides comprehensive primary care services, acute care services, and extended care services in the areas of nursing and medicine for individuals, their families, and communities. This care is provided within the Advanced Practitioner's specialty area(s), settings, and scope of practice. The Advanced Practitioner may assume the role of provider, clinical expert, educator, administrator, researcher, case manager and/or consultant.

Other
Previous experience in specialty area as an APC as determined by the Administrator/Medical Director of specialty area preferred. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within one year of hire. The Advanced Practitioner maintains continuing education credits of as prescribed by licensing body and specific division and maintains prescriptive authority; acquires special clinical competencies as required by division; participates in quality assurance and utilization management activities; and assists with risk management functions.
