Job Type: Full-Time Location: 1425 N. Courthouse Road, Suite 12100, Arlington *METRO Accessible *, Virginia       The Arlington County Treasurer's Office is accepting applications for the following employment opportunity: Treasury Specialist II – Collector (2 positions)

These two full-time positions are for delinquent debt collectors on our call center team, which is within the Compliance Division of Arlington County's Treasurer's Office. These employees provide a variety of front-line customer service, compliance, administrative and/or technical support duties to the collection and processing of taxes and fees. The Treasurer's Office serves an ethnically and culturally diverse population that includes a large number of Spanish-speaking clients for whom English is a second language.

Duties include:
  • Contacting debtors regarding delinquent accounts
  • Responding to taxpayer and debtor inquires received in person, by email, and by phone in a call center environment
  • Explaining tax policy and regulation to customers
  • Conducting skip traces to locate debtors' whereabouts
  • Referring customers to other County and/or State agencies as needed
  • Referring delinquent accounts for lien and seizure when appropriate

To be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will need to have excellent oral and written communication skills, computer proficiency and excellent customer service skills.
 Selection Criteria: Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or the equivalent, plus two years of administrative support experience.

Substitution: An Associate's degree (or successful completion of 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours) in any field may be substituted for up to one year of experience. A Bachelor's degree may substitute for 18 months of required experience.

Desirable: Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish)
  • Experience using a wide range of software programs, specifically Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Experience working directly with the public explaining policies, regulations and / or tax regulations to customers
