    Minimum Education Requirement: Basic Entry Requirements for All Grade Levels:

    Degree: You must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university OR a combination of education and experience equivalent to the completion of a bachelor's degree. Studies must have included at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, 12 of which must be in mathematics and 6 of which must be in statistics.

    OR

    Combination of education and experience -- at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

    OR

    Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree

    GRADE LEVEL REQUIREMENTS:

    In addition to meeting the Basic Entry Requirements above, applicants must have the experience listed below.

    Specialized Experience:

    For GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 level. Specialized experience for this position includes providing expert advice and consultation on statistical and data related projects; planning, development, and research with peer-reviewed published results, evaluation and execution of assignments which were of significance and importance; applying a comprehensive knowledge of mathematical statistical research being done by others in related fields; and consultation on a variety of problems involving the theory or application of mathematical statistical methods and applications to data.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
