WATER RESOURCES PROJECT ENGINEER (3 TO 5 YEARS EXPERIENCE)
GORDON, a multi-disciplinary firm of design professionals with the common goal of providing creative design solutions to today’s challenging environment, is seeking a mid-level Water Resources Project Engineer with 3-5 years of experience to join our team. Successful candidates will possess strong mathematical/analytical skills, an ability to multi-task, and will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
This position will involve work on project teams, completing water resources/civil engineering and related technical assignments. Project work may include site development design, completing plans and specifications for construction, storm water planning, hydrologic runoff modeling and hydraulic analysis, water-resources design (hydraulic structures, open channels, swales, pipes, water control structures, ponds, etc.). A solid understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling is required.
Candidates will design a variety of stormwater facilities; such as bioretentions, green roofs, permeable pavements, stormwater ponds and underground detention facilities. Additionally, candidates will have the opportunity to prepare watershed studies, floodplain studies, and evaluate state regulated impoundment structures for compliance with state regulations. Candidates working on a variety of water resources projects will also have an opportunity to gain general civil/land development experience.

Candidates should have course work in hydraulics, hydrology, civil engineering, and infrastructure design. Minimum requirements include B.S degree in Civil Engineering and strong Civil 3d/AutoCAD skills. EIT required, PE preferred. Previous Civil 3D, Microstation and HEC-RAS experience a plus.

Desired Skills & Experience
- B.S Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- F.E.(EIT) certification
- 3-5 years of experience with site development design, plans and specifications
- Strong Civil 3D/AutoCAD skills
- Proficient with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and tools such as TR-55/TR-20, PondPack, HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS, etc.
- Proficient in sizing, siting, and design of SWM/BMP facilities following Virginia SWM Regulations
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to summarize engineering and model analyses in concise, readable language, is required.
