Assistant Vice President - Human Capital Management and Financial Systems

The Assistant Vice President works across the University to leverage technology investments to identify solutions, efficiencies, and standardize and automate business processes to bend the cost curve and facilitate workforce and system changes.  S/he provides technology and process vision and leadership across the Human Resources, Benefits, Payroll, and Finance ecosystem and ensures alignment with the organization's cloud computing strategy to bring value to Georgetown.  The Assistant Vice President has responsibility for the successful operation and support of the current Workday administrative system and reporting, including Workday Recruiting, HCM, Financials and Grants, in duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Manages and leads the Core Team that maintains/supports the Workday Recruiting, HCM, Financials and Grants Management system. 
  • Manages and coordinates efforts to develop a roadmap for integration across academic and administrative units, leveraging our investment in the enterprise technology systems. 
  • Works with leadership to identify areas where there are needs, gaps, or better solutions that could leverage and use the current technology.
  • Coordinates with the appropriate units (for example, UIS, Advancement, and Student Systems) for replacement systems/technology with the goal of engaging stakeholders and bringing decisions to leadership in a timely manner and integrating the cultural readiness of units and the University. 
  • Manages and coordinates a broad data architecture transformation effort. 
  • Develops recommendations regarding capture of data related to areas including financials, human resources, student billing, and fundraising.
  • Partners with university leadership to understand the data needs of the university, and works directly with the academic units to communicate and refine the data transformation required to support academic analytics.
  • Collaborates with academic stakeholders to identify data currently collected, gaps in data collection, and opportunities to collect information that can be used to support data-driven decision-making on campus.
  • Re-engineers the business process across traditionally isolated departments to drive alignment between the academic and administrative units.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or related discipline
  • 7 to 10 years of experience working at a strategic level in an organization
  • Sufficiently conversant with technology to understand and interact with key stakeholders
  • Ability to deliver positive, sustained impact in complex environments in which collaboration, negotiation and influence management are critical to success
  • Understanding of the importance that organization culture plays in leading and managing change and have excellent communication skills
  • Understanding of the business processes unique to the academic setting and understand the value of enterprise systems and data analytics
  • Proven track record in demonstrating a relationship building skill set and realizing that this role is very engaged in understand a business need, creating a perspective that helps integrate at the highest level and leveraging relational skill sets to help influence change and move us to the next stage of gaining the maximum from our technology infrastructure with a view towards an integrated future when considering future technology solutions
  • Professional experience that includes:
    • Partnerships with users and experience with technology and systems resulting in an alignment of needs and solutions
    • Working effectively as part of a senior leadership team characterized by trust, open communication, and shared goals
    • Results oriented experience in project management, enterprise systems management, and systems implementation
    • Optimizing enterprise performance on multiple dimensions
    • Gaining trusted advisor status with the COO, academic and administrative leadership and peers
    • Working successfully with many constituencies and within a layered governance structure
    • Developing effective communication processes and building relationships at all levels of an organization.
