Assistant Dean for Assessment and Student Support - McDonough School of Business

Located at the intersection of business, government, and international relations, Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business (MSB) develops principled leaders committed to serving both business and society. Through our global perspective, we prepare students to compete in today's international business environment.

The Assistant Dean for Assessment and Student Support assists with the execution of the student engagement strategy for undergraduate business students. The Assistant Dean has duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Advises business students on curricular, academic, and personal issues; and works closely with students on academic probation to provide additional support in an effort to help them improve their time management and study skills.
  • Provides support for major events, including New Student Orientation, Georgetown Admissions Ambassador Program (GAAP) Weekends, and Commencement.
  • Manage Family Weekend with campus partners.
  • Serves on campus-wide committees that deal with undergraduate curricular and co-curricular issues.
  • Manages day-to-day program needs for joint programs with the School of Foreign Service, such as Global Business Fellows, Global Business Major, BSBA/MSFS 5-year Program, and Certificate Programs
  • Oversees the internal marketing and recruitment, as well as advising for specialized degree programs such as BSBA/MSFS, Columbia 3-2 Program, and Early Admission Programs for Georgetown School of Medicine and the Law Center.
  • Develops and implements internal and external benchmark surveys, as well as assessment metrics
  • Oversees key technology enhancements and maintenance, such as Scribe degree auditing system, on-line appointment scheduling and audit system, study abroad course approval database, and polling software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree - Master's degree preferred
  • 5 to 8 years of work experience in higher education - preferably working with undergraduates in a college environment  
  • Ability to work in a supportive and collaborative way with students, faculty, parents, and academic and student affairs staff
  • Personal desire and skills to advise, counsel, and mentor students
  • Ability to multi-task and distinguish between essential and secondary tasks during busy periods while paying careful attention to detail
  • Very strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Experience with initiating programs and planning events
