We are seeking a full-time Quality Improvement Specialist for our Cardiac Service Line at Sentara Heart Hospital.

What you will do:
    Position will work Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm. No weekend or holidays.Will develop, coordinate, implement, evaluate and maintain quality improvement/assurance initiatives for our cardiac service line. Be a liaison to other cardiac areas within the health system.
The Quality Improvement Specialist is responsible for providing project management, facilitation, as well as, clinical oversight and support for the ongoing assessment, development, coordination, and implementation of operational and medical staff performance improvement initiatives and patient safety initiatives across a system-wide service line. The position is responsible for reviewing and assessing all cardiac quality data to include taking the self-initiative to collaborate with key stakeholders to assess, analyze and develop actions targeted at improving areas for quality improvement. Engages physicians and system-wide leaders by utilizing effective written and oral communication skills to not only educate but share changes to quality standards and practices from relevant registries. This includes organizing relevant task forces, review of evidenced based literature/benchmarks, establishment of indicators for monitoring and evaluation of quality and appropriateness of care, continuous improvement, and achieving targeted service line goals across all hospitals.

Requires minimum of 2 years recent experience in the related service line. 3 or more years of current experience in QI related activities preferred. Leadership, teaching and QI/PI facilitation skills required. Knowledge and understanding of regulatory and accreditation agency standards preferred.

Incumbents must possess clinical knowledge related to the specialty or prior quality experience.

Must be able to link the clinical effectiveness and clinical informatics arenas. Requires local travel and use of personal automobile. Requires flexibility in work schedule.
