Multimedia Manager, Digital Media Center - School of Continuing Studies

Georgetown University's School of Continuing Studies (SCS) offers graduate programs in professional and liberal studies, more than 30 professional certificate programs, custom and corporate training and education, summer school and special programs, and the University's only part-time bachelor's program. By pairing seasoned scholars and practitioners with innovative educational programming, SCS prepares students with the skills needed to succeed in today's evolving business landscape.

The Multimedia Manager - in a part-time role 3 nights per week - supports the teaching and research of SCS faculty and students by providing assistance in the use and application of information resources in digital and other non-print formats, and software and hardware support to users of the Digital Media Center (DMC). Reporting to the Project Manager, the Multimedia Manager has responsibilities that include but are not limited to:

  • Staffs and supervises the Digital Media Center to provide optimum services to support the research and multimedia development needs of the students, faculty, and staff of the School of Continuing Studies. 
  • Answers questions about DMC services including the circulation of materials and equipment. 
  • Assists users with audio and video recording and editing; and provides assistance and instruction in using software packages, including productivity suites, image editing programs, web browsers, and specialized multimedia software and equipment. 
  • Supports UIS in monitoring and maintaining MAC lab computer hardware and software; and diagnoses and performs routine maintenance on all equipment, referring more complex issues appropriately. 
  • Maintains all audio-visual equipment
  • Assists in maintaining inventory control for software licenses and equipment.
  • Writes technical documents and train users in proper use of hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Maintains and manages the DMC web presence and the Web Check Out (WCO) System
  • Designs and creates materials to market the DMC's collections, services, and space.
  • Works in collaboration with university partners for graphic, video, and audio production services for SCS and University community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2 years of  experience working in a service environment, preferably providing technical support and services to users/customers
  • 1 year teaching or training experience
  • 2 years of experience providing desktop support for PC or Mac software and hardware
  • Extensive experience installing and maintaining audio-visual equipment
  • Significant experience with Adobe Photoshop, scanning programs, Windows operating systems, word processing programs, presentation software, and HTML
  • Experience with video editing programs Adobe Premiere or Final Cut; audio editing programs Audition or ProTools; and Macromedia Dreamweaver, online catalogs, Mac OS, database management software, and/or spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to establish good rapport with faculty, administrators, and students
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a complex, changing environment
