Job Description: Plans and coordinates educational activities for nursing staff which shall be directed toward the achievement of excellence in patient care. The Clinical Informatics Educator is a registered nurse who serves as a clinical expert, educator, and change agent in the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of staff development programs. The Clinical Informatics Educator works to optimize the clinical design to meet the needs of a large group of interdisciplinary end users, including nurses, certified nursing assistants, respiratory care practitioners, ancillary, clinical and administrative staff. Education & Experience :Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required.Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required.3 years recent clinical experience required.Previous experience with Meditech preferred. Skills & Abilities :In depth knowledge of clinical levels of nursing's current issues relevant to professional practice.Demonstrated expertise in use of personal computers.Knowledge of and demonstrated competency in adult learning theory and group dynamics.Advanced knowledge of electronic documentation and use of technology to support learning (Meditech, Powerpoint, Excel) Licensure & Certificaiton :Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Maryland or compact state required.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor certification required (within 6 months of employment).Certification in area of specialty. Physical Demands : While performing this job the individual will work in confined areas and on nursing units. The job requires sitting 30% of the time and standing and walking 70% of the time. Frequent bending and reaching and ability to lift and carry supplies and curriculum materials weighing up to 20 lbs. required. The job requires visual and auditory acuity and ability to orally communicate. There is a potential for exposure to communicable diseases and/or blood and body substances and hazardous materials. preferred.
