Job Responsibilities As an RN Weekend Supervisor, you will be responsible for the caseload for your assigned shift, and for the total care given to the residents in your charge, who will include post-acute patients, patients with complex medical conditions and needs and long-term care patients. You will provide medical assessments and analysis of each resident's condition and will continuously evaluate their individual care plan. You will also oversee the staff of nursing aides and assistants on your assigned shift and gather information from them concerning their observations of the residents and any changes in their conditions. Your specific duties as an RN Charge Nurse will include: * Providing residents with a positive and family-focused environment * Ensuring that all residents are treated fairly, with kindness, dignity and respect * Coordinating with the Nurses and GNAs and keeping them updated on patient conditions * Communicating changes in resident care needs to your team * Assessing residents who are experiencing a change in condition and updating and conferring with their physician to determine the best course of action * Updating resident care documentation regularly throughout your shift * Communicating with physicians and rehab team to ensure that all changes in the care plans for each day are clearly understood * Gathering lab data * Advising family members of changes in resident conditions * Addressing and working to resolve any complaints from residents or family members * Maintaining the confidentiality of all resident care information * Interacting with residents and family members in an empathetic, tactful and reassuring manner * Working with your team to plan for resident admission, transfer and discharge * Participating in in-service and continuing education programs Job Requirements As a RN Weekend Supervisor, you must have a positive and empathetic personality as well as strong team leadership and delegation skills. You must also be highly organized and detail-oriented with solid critical-thinking, independent problem-solving and analytic/assessment skills. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public Specific qualifications for the RN Charge Nurse position include: Must possess, as a minimum, a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate of an approved RN program * Minimum 3 years sub-acute care experience * Strong management/supervisory skills * Empathetic and service-oriented personality * Excellent time-management and prioritization abilities * Cheerful, tactful disposition * Ability to speak diplomatically with family members in stressful situations while maintaining appropriate emotional boundaries * Willingness to seek out new methods and principles and to incorporate them into existing nursing practices * Knowledge of state and federal regulations that apply to our facility (including Medicare) and the ability to maintain compliance * Understanding of resident rights * Knowledge of documentation requirements for managing skilled care * Familiarity with reimbursement issues * Familiarity with computers, particularly secure email communication * Ability and willingness to work harmoniously with others * Ability to move intermittently throughout the work day * Ability to speak and write the English language * Ability to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations * Ability to lift and transfer residents, supporting body weight, and the ability to prevent injury to resident, self, and others * Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds * Willingness to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary * Willingness to be subject to call-back during emergency conditions (ie, severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.) * Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace * Experience with IVs, pick lines and infusion, a plus * Experience in assessments of skin impairments, wound impairments and wound care, a plus * Knowledge of state and federal regulatory requirements, a plus * Electronic Medical Records experience, Lorien is an equal opportunity employer.
