JOB SUMMARY Under minimal supervision, sets up and operates mechanical machines and mechanically based machines. Machine operators make sure their machines are working at full capacity, are stocked with needed materials, well-maintained and perform periodic checks on output. REPORTING TO Supervisor ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner * Reads and interprets blueprints as needed. * Properly and safely loads and unloads machines. Examples may include raw material and castings. * Recognizes, deploys and properly uses inserts, fixtures and tooling. * Understands and has the ability to perform tool wear offsets. * Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance task on machines * Utilizes and abides by requirements and safety procedures. * Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions. SKILLS and ABILITIES * Effective communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written. * Problem solving skills needed to know why machines are not at peak performance, how to increase output and how to fix errors. * Attention to detail with precision equipment and product. * Ability to perform basic mathematical computations. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. * Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. * Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED required Two (2) years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to move or transfer products with an overhead crane and/or other handling devices. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs., with help with handling equipment. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision and hearing abilities may be required by this job.
